This project grew out of my frustration with anchor men and women (media as a whole) who I think portray pro-gun rights people in an unfair and mostly negative light without truly giving the person interviewed an opportunity to explain the human side of gun rights. It seemed to me that the media would select a radical to interview and let the person represent all gun rights supporters, or they would cast stones at a clean cut and articulate gun rights supporters. Unfortunately the gun rights debate is sparingly presented in a logical manner.

In the second half of 2008 I took it upon myself to read about the history of gun control in our country, subsequently my suspicions of fear mongering and lies in the media were proven correct. I decided that the best way to dispel inaccuracies in the public eye would be to introduce pro-gun rights men and women in a manner that would allow them time to share their journey and the forces that motivate them into action for gun rights.

I am shooting the documentary so that it will accomplish two things:

n1
Dispel inaccuracies and introduce gun rights supporters as the regular folk that I know them to be.
n1
As people share their personal journeys, I hope that they become like a blue print for others who want to get involved
but don't know how or where to start. Not just for gun rights but for all issues that affect the nation.

When I first began by contacting the subjects, some immediately agreed and others were skeptical.

“Are you going to make me come across like a radical?”

This caught me off guard at times, though it shouldn’t have, and it fueled an urge to work harder to prove that I just want to expel inaccuracies and bring in facts in a calm and logical manner. I keep thinking that if I can introduce pro gun rights people as the regular family oriented people that I have come to know them as, perhaps this will lead to an anti-gunner being more inclined to take a second look at the facts. Maybe they will be interested in a Second Amendment meeting and a cup of coffee with someone who just wants their family and country to be safe and prosperous. Maybe they’ll find that our differences have been hyped by media interests and we really are all simply very much alike.
